Watched the first 15 minutes (immigration policies) of the debate, I can see why Clegg is popular:

1) New Politics: He represents his party as a new, fresh way of politics, as opposed to the old, traditional Tory and Labour parties. He starts with a clean record basically, yet can attack his opponents very effectively by using their history.
2) Middle Way: He seems to place his party in the middle of the right-wing Tory party and the left-wing Labour party. Best of both worlds. That's also why he gained support in the polls from both Tory and Labour demographics, he probably convinced the moderate group at both sides.
3) Charm: This is the first time I'm seeing either of the three debating (only know Brown from before, and only a little), and Clegg is very good at presenting himself as the man to trust. Reasonable arguments (immigration cap from Cameron was not very convincing, Brown used statistics to cover up the problem) and convincing charm is a good combination.

Ash have you jumped onto the LibDem bandwagon.
Have a look at their policies and reconsider
Clegg is all style and absolutely no substance.
The same Clegg, who incidentally said this about you, your friends and your family:

"Watching Germany rise from its knees after the war and become a vastly more prosperous nation has not been easy on the febrile British psyche,’ Mr Clegg wrote, before attacking Britain’s approach to the war.

‘All nations have a cross to bear, and none more so than Germany with its memories of Nazism. But the British cross is more insidious still.

‘A misplaced sense of superiority, sustained by delusions of grandeur and a tenacious obsession with the last war, is much harder to shake off. We need to be put back in our place.' "

A hung parliament is probably the worst thing that could happen to the economy (follow the market when fears about it surface). I think it's a very sad reflection on society that people seem driven by the ability of a man to speak when they vote who will be running the country for the next 5 years, rather than on what they can actually do for you!
It's all very well and good having a leader who can speak, but when things go tits up - there's only one person to blame and it's the government you voted in.

Only a few days ago, Vince Cable got absolutely grilled by Andrew Neil on the news - and rightly so; there are incredibly vast flaws in the policies of the LibDems (particularly economically) but the electorate can't seem to see this - and it's a really sad state of affairs.

And I hate this bullshit era of consensus politics.
We saw it in the 1960's and the 1970's - nothing gets done when we all join hands and have a nice chat. The 80s may have been a tough time for some, but at least things got done! As was the case with Blair after 1997. A vote for Clegg is a vote for coalition and a vote for Brown. There is no doubting that. Unfortunately, and it really sickens me, the message doesn't get across.
